After unlocking the Grizzly Beast Form, the Unique enemy Bres will appear on the place Basilisk was battled.
Basilisk's code name has the "TX4" from normal Cockatrices, with the addition of "L" for "large".
After defeating Basilisk for the first time, the player gets a Learning Genome for an unknown Beast (name appears as "???"). This Learning Genome was actually for Grizzly, which can only be unlocked after beating the game. It's unknown why this inclusion was necessary.
It could actually instead a reference to the Beast Form drop from the original arcade game, with the Basilisk being a reference to the Chicken Stinger from the original game, and the Grizzly Beast Form being a reference to the Werebear Beast Form, also from the original game.
A picture of Basilisk is seen in the background of the Uniques menu even though it isn't part of them.
The name "Basilisk" comes from the European legendary reptile who can kill just by staring at their victim; but this game's version is most likely based on the most common usage of the name, which comes from The Basilisk and the Weasel by Marcus Gheeraerts the Elder, depicting the Basilisk as a Cockatrice instead.
If set on fire by the Minotaur's Fire Breath, Basilisk will run around the arena frantically.
